The 2nd match of the season is on Sat 10th Nov. The venue is Cranford Park for men and women. The womens event starts at 12.15 and mens at 3pm. Parking is at the Concorde Club 10/15mins walk from the start. We need to field our best teams after differing fortunes in the 1st event. The women need to improve after a disappointing start and the men have a tough challenge to maintain the high standard they set.

The next men's event of the season is to be held at Lloyd Park Croydon on Sat 12th Jan at the earlier start time of 2.30pm. Lloyd Park is on the A212 Coombe Road Croydon. There is a small pay car park near the tram stop, alternative parking is in the side streets opposite. There are changing rooms and toilets but it's best to turn up changed and ready to run. The course is all grass and suitable for spikes. Please contact me if you need any more details.

The last matches of the season are on Sat 9th Feb. The womens team at Richmond Park (Pembroke Lodge car park) starting 12.30pm and the men at Wimbledon Common (Canizzaro Road) starting 3pm. After a slow start the women are improving whilst the mens team started with our highest finish ever but have faded with a disappointing result in the 3rd event. In both cases we need a strong effort to finish off the season in style. If you haven't tried a Surrey League match before give it a go. For more details contact Sally Stubbs or Tony Casey. Directions are on our website and lifts can be arranged.

The new season starts in October, if you intend to compete please make sure you have registered with England Athletics and hold a valid competition licence. The league rules state: All Clubs and Runners must be registered with England Athletics. It is the Clubs responsibility to see that they are. Should any subsequently be found to be unregistered they will be disqualified.

The men's cross country season got of to a steady at Cranford Park. We fielded 13 runners and finished the race in 5th place only 3 points behind British Airways and 77 points ahead of 6th place. Clapham Chasers and Elmbridge took 1st and 2nd places 133 points ahead of 3rd place and already look to be favourites for promotion. The next Men's Surrey Cross Country League race is on Saturday 13th Nov at Lloyd Park Croydon 3pm start. We finished in 2nd place at the last race and it would be good to maintain that position. So lets try and get our best team out.

Lloyd park isn't anyones favorite venue but we still managed to field a good team finishing in 5th place on the day. A result that disappointed most us which goes to show that we now expect to finish each event in a higher position. Only 60 points covered 2nd to 6th position showing that the competition is going to be very close this year. Having said that we are now in 3rd place in the league table with a clear gap over 4th place which is pleasing. The next match is hosted by us at Lightwater Country Park and I need volunteers to set out the course, marshal the course and time the race. The boys race starts at 2pm and the senior race at 2.30pm. Please let me know if you are available to help. And of course we still need to field a strong team in the race.
